Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 to a humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Before she learned to write or read, she was making up the songs she wrote herself. The first guitar she received was gifted by her mother when she was eight. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. The same year she released her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. As a student in high school she established herself local, but longed for a larger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964 she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time was searching for a girl to sing on his show. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton recorded I Will Always love You for Wagoner after their breakup. The song reached the top of the charts at. The first time it reached No. 1 was 1974.
