Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, philanthropist and television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England at the age of 16 and completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to serve as president of the highly regarded debate club The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. Her popularity as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she finished her degree. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice portal that offered an honest assessment of the current politics. Her fame helped to attract several famous contributors who shared their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to stand as an independent Candidate for the California Recall election to succeed the former governor Davis. Arianna was also part of a Detroit-based project that promoted efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes identified her as the top female in the media industry in the year 2009. She ranked 12th on the ranking. The Guardian also included her on the list of 100 most influential media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was named the president of this group. It included a variety of AOL properties of the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close relationship with both of her parents and father, it was their relationship which shaped her. From her early years, she displayed leadership qualities that remain highly respected. As a 16-year-old her family moved in her home in United Kingdom for her higher education. At Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972, she graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic, a TV host and columnist upon her graduation. She also appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editorial assistance.
