Zoe Saldana's parents Asalia and Aridio Saldana, were born 19 June 1977 in Passaic New Jersey. Her father is Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. She was raised in Queens, New York. When she was 10, she and her parents moved to Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe found a great desire to perform dances when being abroad. Her first training was with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy to learn ballet, and a variety of other styles of dance.
